Bibliographic Databases









GCRIO provides links to Agency databases and other non-Federal bibliographic systems. There are many such systems in the world today; we have identified a few that contain information that is relevant to our mission. In most cases, one needs an account to use the commercial systems.

US Federal Bibliographic Databases

Atmospheric Radiation Measurement Program Biblographic Data Base
From the Department of Energy's Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) Program.

Defense Technical Information Center
Access to and transfer of scientific and technical information for DoD personnel, DoD contractors and potential contractors, and other U.S. Government agency personnel and their contractors.

Query Interface For EREN WWW Server
From the Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy.

Library of Congress On-Line System (LOCIS).
LOCIS is the Library of Congress's mainframe-based collection of databases including a public access catalog of bibliographic information, federal legislation, copyrighted registered works, Braille and audio materials, organization and thematic guides, and foreign law abstracts.

NASA's Scientific and Technical Information Office.
Access to the NASA RECON Bibliographic Database, NASA Thesaurus, and Selected Current Aerospace Notices.

National Renewable Energy Laboratory Publications Database
References to documents written or edited by staff and subcontractors of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.

NOAA Digital Library
A compendium of NOAA bibliographic databases, on-line documents, and selected environmental journals.

USDA Integrated System for Information Services (ISIS).   ISIS provides access to the National Agricultural Library's On-line Catalog and the Journal Article Citation Database. This web page contains a telnet link. Users should login as ISIS.

Non-Federal Bibliographic Databases

Bell & Howell Information and Learning
Provides bibliographic, microfilming, and distribution services for doctoral dissertations and master's theses generated worldwide. Also maintains an Energy and Agriculture research collection.

Cambridge Scientific Abstracts
A detailed alphabetical listing of the extensive resources of Cambridge Scientific Abstracts

Access to libraries and reference services from the Carl Corporation, A Knight Ridder Information Company. Includes free search access to UnCoverWeb, a citation database of more than 17,000 multidisciplinary journals.

Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS)
A division of the American Chemical Society, CAS provides a broad range of scientific information products from focused technical publications to comprehensive on-line information resources.

Access to the Knight-Ridder information systems including DIALOG, a service that provides access to over 450 on-line databases and over 45 CD-ROM titles.

Engineering Information
Created to help engineers share their own research results and to learn about what other engineers are doing by facilitating access to the published engineering literature of the world.

Environment Canada Databases
"The Green Lane" databases.

Global Climate Change Digest
Provides access to the archives of this guide to published material on global climate change and ozone depletion.

Innovative Interfaces
Web interface to libraries that use Innovative Interfaces software. Libraries distributed worldwide.

Products and services include Internet edition of the NY Times plus on-line search of news, business, financial, and legislative/political resources.

An international on-line information company specializing in patent, trademark, scientific, chemical, business and news information.

Services include the Academic Reference Center, a bibliographic resources for the UK academic community.

STN International
The Scientific and Technical Information Network. Provides access to many on-line databases relating to science, technology, patents, and business.

Union of Concerned Scientists
Abstracts to journal articles and books according to six topic areas:  AgricultureArms ControlEnergyGlobal ResourcesGlobal Warming,  and Transportation.

Products include a polar regions bibliographic database.
