This section describes the types of environment and natural resources R&D currently supported by Federal agencies, potential opportunities for funding, and points of contact. This Program Guide is meant to provide the reader with an understanding of the scope of federally funded environment and natural resources research opportunities. While every effort was made to ensure completeness in the programs described here, there may be additional programs that are not included. The CENR intends to update this Guide routinely, and add any programs that have been omitted.

For additional or more detailed information on the programs described below, the reader should communicate with the point of contact listed. Further, agencies are required to advertise their research opportunities prior to issuing a solicitation in the Commerce Business Daily, which is available electronically. Some agencies, such as NASA, advertise solicitations via the Internet. These on-line sources can be accessed through the White House Home Page (

Although many of the deadlines for submitting FY96 proposals have passed, they have been left here for informational purposes. Many of the research areas noted for 1996 will continue in 1997.
